Ceramics Pill #3: Sicilian ceramics

People have been making pots on this island for six thousand years. Mati Cini, our ceramics manager, walks through the whole sequence in about an hour: the clay itself, prehistoric and Greek ware, the glazes that arrived with Arab potters, the majolica towns, and the forms still made here today.

What is a Ceramics Pill?
Once a month we run a free online session on a different ceramics topic, led by Salemi Ceramics artists and teachers. Past editions covered woodfiring and kilns, and working with found clay. The sessions are open to everyone, from complete beginners to people who have worked with clay for decades.
